1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are harmless text files that are stored on your browser when you visit almost any website. Their purpose is to allow the website to remember your visit the next time you browse it. Although many people may not know about cookies, they have been in use for twenty years, since the first browsers for the World Wide Web appeared.

2. WHAT ARE NOT COOKIES?

They are not viruses, nor trojans, nor worms or spam, nor spyware, or pop-up windows.

3. WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION IS STORED IN COOKIES?

Cookies generally do not store sensitive information about you, like credit cards or bank details, pictures, ID or personal information. The data they save are of a technical nature: personal preferences, content personalisation, etc.

The web server does not associate you as a user, but it associates your browser. In fact, if you regularly use Internet Explorer and try to browse the same website with Firefox or Chrome, you will see that the webpage does not realise that you are the same user, because it is actually associating you only through the browser.

4. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COOKIES?

Technical cookies: They are basic ones and they allow, among other things, to know if the user is a human or an automated application, if it is a registered user or an anonymous one. Ultimately, elementary tasks for the proper functioning of any dynamic webpage.
Analysis cookies: They store information about the type of browsing that is being performed, the most used sections, consulted products, time zone, language, etc.
Advertising cookies: They show adds according to your browsing, country of origin, language, etc.

5. WHAT ARE FIRST-PARTY AND THIRD-PARTY COOKIES?

The first-party cookies are set by the web page you are visiting and the third-party cookies are set by external services or providers such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.

6. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DISABLE THE COOKIES?

  • For your understanding of the scope of disabling cookies, see the following examples:
You will not be able to share content from this webpage on Facebook, Twitter or any other social network.
  • The website will not be able to adapt the contents to your personal preferences, as it usually happens on online shops.
  • You will not be able to access to the personal area on the web, such as My account, or My profile or My orders.
  • Online shops: Shopping online will be impossible. You will have to make purchases via phone or by visiting the store, if it is available.
  • The customisation of your geographic preferences such as time zone, currency or language will be impossible.
  • The website will not be able to perform web analytics about visitors and web traffic, so it will be hard for the webpage to be competitive.
  • You will not be able to write in a blog or upload photos, post comments or rate contents. The webpage will be unable to know + whether you are a human or an automated application that publishes spam.
Targeted advertising will not be able to be shown, which will reduce the web’s advertising income.
