The Cab chair is a best-seller designed by Mario Bellini in the 1970s and is now a signature piece in Cassina’s I Contemporanei collection.
Cab was the first chair to have a separate leather structure, inspired by how our leather fits into the skeleton.
The upholstery consists of sixteen pieces of saddle leather in ivory white.
These pieces, which have been individually die-cut, are subjected to fourteen different manual procedures.
The pieces are sewn together only when their outer edges have been trimmed to ensure a perfect fit.
Once assembled, the cover is attached to the steel skeleton of the chair and held in place by a zipper, just like a custom-made garment.
